The Ghaziabad Development Authority is contemplating to develop one of the roads in Indirapuram as a model road of the area, officials said. The proposal is a part of a plan to develop 10 roads from seven localities as model roads of the city. While the authority has finalised the roads from other localities, it is yet to decide between the two options in Indirapuram.

Sushil Chaubey, Officer on Special Duty for Zone 6 told CitySpidey that the authority has two options for this development. We are mulling over the options of Kala Pathar Road and Dr Sushila Naiyar Marg- the stretch between Bikaner Chauraha and Aditya Mall. Dr Sushila Naiyar Marg is a primary road for Shipra Sun City and seven other high-rises.

Chaubey said that the roads will be revamped by reconstructing the footpaths, redevelopment of central verge and developing greenery on the roadsides. “However, the biggest hurdle would be to remove the rampant encroachment from the roads,” he added.

While the Kala Pathar Road is 7 km long, the stretch between Bikaner Chauraha and Aditya Mall is approximately 1.5 kms.

The colonies where model roads will be made are Indirapuram, Indraprastha, Koyal Enclave, Madhuban Bapudham, Swarn Jayanti Puram and Shalimar Garden.

Apart from these 7 localities, GDA is also aiming to develop Meerut Bypass Road in Raj Nagar Extension as a model road. The authority has formed a team of junior engineers to carve out a plan for turning Meerut Bypass Road into a model road.

Besides, GDA is coming up with a walkability plan for CISF Road in Indirapuram. The authority has roped in a consultancy to prepare a design of over 2 km stretch of both sides of the CISF Road.
