Commuting during odd hours can affect our loved ones, especially at a time when the crime rate is increasing at a fast pace. Most of the times, our family members are stressed about our safety and well being. Keeping this viewpoint in mind, Indirapuram based Mahagun Mansion II resident, Gaurav Mittal has invented an application that can send your current location to your kin and nearby police station.

The app, “Main Bhi Chowkidar” was launched on August 15 and is available on the play store free of cost. It is developed by the IT team of Mahakal Maharaj Bikaner Trust run by Mittal. He took the decision to form the app after he faced an untoward incident some months ago.

Mittal has adopted the name from the ruling, Bharatiya Janata Party's general election campaign that went viral. Under the 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign, all the union ministers, including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had added the word, 'chowkidar,' in front of their names.

Apart from providing safety to the users, the app also makes them vigilantes, who can provide help to others who are in need.

Mittal told that the app is connected with various social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Users can click the picture of a situation like traffic jams and can notify the concerned authorities. “If users see huge traffic jam or unattended garbage lying on the road, they can click pictures and directly inform the concerned department via social media,” he added.
