Defunct streetlights have become a cause of concern for the residents living in the Dwarka area. Due to darkness on the roads, chances of criminal activities have increased. Residents’ lives and properties are under grave risk.

They have been continuously raising this issue. Cases of snatching and other petty crimes are on rise. As winter is around the corner, residents are at higher risk of falling prey to criminals and antisocial elements.

These dark stretches can be seen everywhere in Dwarka. Parks are mostly dark during night. It promotes the criminal activities. Incidence of theft have been common in the past where thieves used the dark areas of the parks as a cover to sneak into societies.

It is really disappointing that the infrastructure of the city is in such a bad shape. It has not been maintained properly. I have seen many poles where bulbs are missing. It is surprising to note that the authorities turn a deaf ear to the woes of the residents.

Delhi Development Authority (DDA), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), police and community people should work in tandem to improve the situation without delay as it is the need of the hour.
