DDA approves amendment in master plan to include fitness centres

The Delhi Devlopment Authority on Wednesday given its nod to amendments to the Master Plan for Delhi (MPD-2021) to include fitness centres including gyms, Yoga and meditation centre and wellness centres.

The decision was taken in the meeting which was conducted in the chairmanship of Delhi L-G Anil Baijal who is also the DDA Chairman.

“Considering various representations received for continuation (fitness centres) have been allowed to continue considering their role to make the Fit India Movement a success,” a statement issued by DDA read.

“The development of basic public, semi-public facilities along with general commercial facilities could not keep pace with growing population resulting in the increase of mixed use. The mixed use policy aims to balance the socio-economic need and the impact of the said activity in the residential area,” the statement added.

In the meeting, the authority also approved the development of Lake View Complex/ Sanjay Lake Park Complex on 10.26 hectares land at Trilokpuri (near Sanjay Lake) for residential purpose based on mixed use development on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) norms. 

For this, the land-use for the site will be changed from “Commercial” to “Residential”.

Considering the requests received from the general public for allotment of LIG flats ‘In-Pair,’ the authority decided to 1,000 LIG flats (500 pairs) ‘In-Pair’ at Narela. Two adjacent LIG flats will be allotted in pair to a buyer at the approximate cost of Rs 45 lakhs.
