Senior residents of Gaur Sports Wood of Noida’s sector 79 reached out to the needy in the area with food through a community refrigerator. Called ‘Happy Fridge’, the referigerator was installed in their residential society with the help of an NGO, Feeding India.

Explaining abou the move to CitySpidey, a senior resident said that they would store freshly cooked food and other eatables collected from the residents with regular intervals in the Happy Fridge. The food can be accessed by anyone in need.

This is the first such community fridge in the sector 7X ( 71-79). Maintenance of the fridge will be undertaken by a refrigerator company.

“All we had to do was provide a safe place and electricity connection for the fridge. We experience a sense of satisfaction and contentment after taking the initiative. The feeling that we too can help feed a few mouths is great,” said another resident.

The purpose of the fridge is to help the underprivileged. However, everyone hungry can access to the fridge, including the daily wagers and household workers of their society.
