The truth is that many factors have contributed in creating a pollution mess in Delhi. While we have over a crore of vehicles in the city, the vehicular emissions have killed scores of persons in the last few years. Despite all these things, we have yet not applied any check on the growing number of vehicles in the city.
Since last many years, we have tried to raise awareness on the issue of a green and clean Diwali. Every year, many people initiate drives to dissuade use of firecrackers in the city. But the outcome is almost nil.
Government must bring stricter norms to combat pollution in the city. WHO had earlier said that over 30 thousand pollution-related deaths are reported every year. But there is no detailed analysis of diseases causing the deaths.
We hereby request to our government to ask all the concerned agencies to study and analyse the impact of pollution during the upcoming odd-even scheme in November 2019, so that a conclusive report is finalised to understand the exact causes of pollution in the city.
