For residents of Kirti Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I, East Delhi, every morning begins with new words of hope and spirituality, thanks to the efforts of Alka Gulati.

Each morning, the society’s wooden blackboard has a new spiritual message scribbled on it to motivate its residents. The reason: When people start out from their homes in the morning for schools, offices or other places, they must do so in a positive frame of mind.

The idea came from Gulati, a resident and an RWA member. What began as a simple urge to wish good morning three years back turned into a positive morning ritual.

Speaking to City Spidey, she says, “Some years back, I thought there should be a way I could wish all my society friends good morning every day! And why not with a lovely message? So just like that, I began writing a few spiritual lines every day on the blackboard to make my friends feel happy, and wish them good morning at the same time.”

She adds that her mother, too, is spiritual in nature and has a lot of faith in God. “Three years back, my mother presented me with a book, which is very close to my heart. I take quotes from that book, and write them on the blackboard every day,” says Gulati.
