Residents of F Block, Sector 50, Noida, are unhappy with the speed at which Noida Authority has been carrying out the construction of their community centre. The facility, which has a budget of Rs 4.7 crore, was to be ready by March this year but is nowhere near completion.

In the absence of a community centre of their own, residents have to organise functions and events at the block's park, at the community centres of sectors 44 and 50, or go for expensive options such as banquet halls and farmhouses.

"Every time we met Authority officials, we were given a new timeline," said Dr D Sharma, RWA president of the block. "And as obvious, they have never been able to meet the deadline."

Raghu Singh, a resident of the block, said that most residents want to organise functions inside the block but are left with no option but to depend on community centres in other sectors, which always give preference to their own residents.

RS Yadav, project engineer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey that construction was in the final phase and that the facility would be ready by October 31.

Residents are hoping that the date given by the Authority this time is final.
