Confederation of NCR RWAs, or CONRWA, has started demanding a toll-free India for free flow of traffic at all toll-tax points in the country.

The demand comes in the wake of the demonetisation, after which the central government, keeping the crisis of low denomination notes in mind, declared all toll roads free across the country till November 24.

PS Jain, president of CONRWA, has written to the Minister of Road Transport and Highway, Nitin Gadkari, drawing his attention to the relief from traffic snarls at all toll-tax points across the country. His letter demanded that the central government abolish the provision of toll tax in the country for good. It also stated that the step will save valuable time, reduce fuel wastage and reduce air pollution.

Jain, in his letter, suggested that the central government levy a one-time toll tax during the purchase of vehicles. It also stated that the government should conduct value assessment in case of old vehicles and a one-time toll tax be levied accordingly.
