With monsoons approaching, DLF Foundation has collaborated with the Directorate of NVBDCP (National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, to help make Gurgaon free from vector-borne diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and malaria.

In a bid to eradicate the diseases, DLF Foundation will organise awareness camps across the city. Discussions are on to finalise a plan of action for the project.

The foundation has already formed a national core group for the control of vector-borne diseases. This group will join hands with numerous companies to work towards the issue of vector-borne diseases through corporate social responsibility (CSR) and intervention schemes.

The government will go all out to support this venture and Dr AC Dhariwal, director, NVBDCP, will head the national core group. Welcoming this partnership, he said, “The private sector can create responsiveness, which will help residents take precautionary measures."

He further highlighted the importance of designing intervention schemes, for which necessary technical support will be provided.

Colonel Prakash Tewari, advisor, CSR and Education, DLF Ltd, said, “Vector-borne diseases have been major contributors to the increasing levels of morbidity, especially during monsoons — something that can be controlled."
