The managing committee of Manas Apartments, a cooperative group housing society in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 Extension, East Delhi, is to meet their MLA, Manish Sisodia, on Monday at his Delhi secretariat office. Sisodia is also a powerful minister in the Delhi government.

The residents have several issues to discuss, including increasing the number of streetlights in the area and replacement of damaged ones.

In their meeting last Sunday, the managing committee of Manas Apartments prepared a 10-point memorandum, which they intend to hand over to Sisodia. It comprises issues such as water and electricity bills, and regular meetings between the minister and the residents.

The committee will put forth their demand for the installation of CCTV cameras from government funds, and request that the outdoor lights of their housing complex be connected with the grid of streetlights on the roads.

BR Dobhal, a member of the committee, said, “The purpose is to develop a cordial, working relationship with our representative in the government. No meeting has been held in the past year. We will also remind him of the promises he had made during the elections. The past one-and-half years have not really seen much development.”

When City Spidey asked whether they could, in fact, demand CCTV cameras from government funds, Anil Jaiswal, a resident, responded promptly, “The Delhi government last year announced that it would provide 15 CCTV cameras to every housing society in Delhi. We are now asking the government to honour its own words.”
