Following a case of alleged molestation of an 11-year-old girl in Grand Omaxe, in Sector 93 B, Noida, residents organised a self-defence workshop for children.

The workshop got an enthusiastic response, with more than 60 children and women registering for it.

Bhupinder Kaur, a resident, said, “Children are most vulnerable nowadays. They play in groups, but are they safe? Keeping this in mind, this self-defence workshop was organised. Children, along with their parents, have shown keen interest in learning martial arts.”

After the overwhelming response the workshop got, organisers decided to continue the workshop for a few more weekends.

Kaur added, “The workshop aims to make children capable of defending themselves in case of an assault. Children are also being made aware of the importance of maintaining a distance from strangers.”

Gopal Jagwan, another resident, said, “Martial arts training is important, as it is through such activities that children will learn to protect themselves.”
