Several roads in Dwarka have been in a state of disrepair for quite some time. The damaged portion on the roads are an invitation to disaster for commuters, especially cycle rickshaws, bikes and auto rickshaws.

Commuters have even started avoiding some these stretches altogether. Despite several reports in the media about the state of affairs and assurances from the authorities concerned, nothing seems to have been done.

There is a big pothole in front of Metro View Apartments, Sector 13, near the turn towards the Metro corridor for the past three to four months. Vinod Rawat, general secretary of the society, says, “The area is particularly dangerous. It shows the poor quality of material used in the construction of the road. The Delhi Development Authority should repair this road as soon as possible.”

Similarly, the road near Shree Krishna Apartments, Sector 5, road near traffic signal at the intersection of sectors 4 and 12, and the road in front of Peepal Apartments, Sector 17, are in dilapidated state. It’s a similar story in front of Mandakini and Ashadeep Apartments in Sector 2.

JN Pandey, former vice-president of Ashadeep Apartments, says, “It’s been a year that this road has been in such a bad shape. The civic agencies dug up the road for work on the sewer line, but never restored it. I don’t understand why the civic agencies are so casual.”

When City Spidey spoke to Mahipal Singh, deputy director, public relations, DDA, he said, “I will look into the matter and inform the department concerned.”
