The East Delhi Municipal Corporation of Delhi (EDMC) is making an all-out effort to provide relief to residential areas from air pollution. After successful use of water sprinkler, the civic agency on Monday introduced vacuum machines to settle down dust particles, a practice first started in Kranti Nagar ward 26.
Two machines have been procured for this purpose.
Air pollution is choking the residents of the National Capital. It has become difficult to step out of one’s home. Under the circumstances, the vacuum cleaner has come as boon to keep the environment dust free.
The EDMC started vacuum cleaning drive to get some relief from the dust pollution for the city. Earlier, water sprinkling was the only option to keep the dust at bay.
EDMC chairperson and corporator from Shahdara zone, Kanchan Maheshwari, said "We are using two machines for dust. It will help clean the atmosphere.”
Dust particles are the main agents of infection that goes into lungs and cause coughing, especially when air quality index (AQI) is low, it settles down on lower berth so that one can easily inhale it while breathing.
The vacuum cleaning drive will be extended to all major wards later.
