Women special bus service launched in Gurugram

Gurugram: In order to ensure proper safety to women passengers, the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) on Thursday rolled out women special bus service.

Around 12 bus stops will be there on route number 116A between Gurgaon Railway Station and HUDA City Centre metro station.

The decision was taken after a survey which was conducted by the GMCBL. It was taken considering the high number of working women passengers on the route.

With the start of this bus service, many daily women commuters would get benefit.

Welcoming the move, Shalu Aggarwal, one of the commuter said, “This is good step to start women only bus on this route. We used to take auto rickshaw but it was not convenient and safe. They should increase the number of buses on this route.”

According to an GMCBL official, buses will be increased on this route on account of larger number of passengers. Also, they are planning to introduce more women special bus services on other routes as well.

The buses will have woman conductor in the bus and they will make four rounds in a day. The first bus will be available from Huda City Center metro station at 8:20 am and 2 pm.
