Noida Authority has filed a complaint against 42 rag-pickers across the city for littering the roads with garbage after segregating saleable items from it.

The authority has identified 70 spots in the city where garbage was being left strewn on the road by the rag-pickers after retrieving saleable materials like iron, plastic, etc. from the waste. Based on input, a complaint was registered in Phase 2 police station by OSD Indu Prakash on behalf of the authority.

Talking to CitySpidey, station house officer of the police station informed that the investigation in the case was going on for quite some time. Action would be taken on the basis of the outcome of the probe.

Asked if any of the accused has been detained or called for questioning, the police officer, said, "Not yet, we are in the process and will soon take measures.” 

The issue of rag-pickers littering the roads is not new, residents of several areas have in past registered complained about the same with the authority. 

Nirmal Sharma, a resident of Sector 41 in Noida, said that the rag-pickers sit anywhere and start segregating the waste. After they find things of their use, they go away leaving the waste to be cleared by municipal workers.  

CitySpidey tried to reach the official who registered the complaint without success as all our calls to were left unanswered.
