Venue of new year party becomes bone of contention at Supertech Capetown

Noida: Braving with intense cold on Tuesday morning, a group of residents especially women residing at Supertech Capetown, a high rise in Sector 74, were compelled to come out to stage a protest at entry gate of the society for unlocking the new year's party venue.

These women, who operate Saheli group in the society, complained that the venue has been locked from outside prior to celebration date, which is today.

Kismat Dhar, a resident said that they had plans to organise a Sham-e-Gajal, a get-together party to ring in the new Year. But the venue, which is on second floor of the club, was locked by maintenance staffs on the direction of allegedly dissolved office bearers of society management board.

She claimed that they (office bearers) are afraid of securing their seats in the coming election as many of residents especially those who had extended support to them in the past has joined us and they were to party with us on the eve of New Year. To cause inconvenience to us, the door of the club was locked.

However, the other group namely C-3, a residents group was supposed to hold party on the same venue. It led the ruckus in the society.

According to Arun Sharma, seating president of the society management board said that members of C-3 had held party on the venue in past. They had scheduled it there for this year as well.

He said, “We had called rounds of meeting to reach the consensus to have joint party. But it was inconclusive due to which common party could not be organised.” “Considering peace and brotherhood in the society, the club house has been locked so that no party could be organised,” he said.

He said the matter is communicated with district administration and local police via an email.

But the women are rigid to hold party on the same venue. They were standing outside the venue requesting the management to open the doors of the club house. They said that they had made application for obtaining prior permission from the district administration to organise the function at above mentioned venue.

Dhar said that they have collected Rs 300 from each head as an registration fee. But her opponent failed to sale the tickets, which were of highest price of Rs 2,500. Due to this, they decided to cancel the event.

Sharma said that though they (women group) made application for obtaining requisite permission from the district administration but they had not booked the club.

According to Naveen Dubey, another resident said that they had given application for booking the club in the month of October this year. They also informed the police about closing the door of the club one forcefully.
