New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has come of age. Even as the National Capital is celebrating 25th year metro service, Mayur Vihar-phase 3 with more than 25 lakh population is deprived of metro connectivity.

For the past ten years, people of the area are fighting for rapid public transport facility to ease the burden on traffic. They have knocked the doors of DMRC and the Delhi government for extended metro services to Mayur Vihar-phase 3. But their demand fell on deaf years.

Finding no help forthcoming from any quarters, an association representing the people of the area met Pankaj Singh, (MP from Gautam Budh Nagar) with a request to intervene in the matter.

The United Forum of Residents of Mayur Vihar Phase 3 is a combined association of MV3, residents of Khoda colony (Which comes under Ghaziabad, Sector 2 and Vashundhara, which comes under Noida) demanded better connectivity for the area.

On Saturday, the forum submitted a memorandum for extension of Magenta line from Noida to pink line at Anand Vihar via Mayur Vihar phase three. They say it would ease the transport woes of the area.

Speaking on behalf of the United Forum of Resident, Vinod K Nair said, “We are getting huge support for the fight for our right. We have presented a memorandum to GB Nagar MP Pankaj Singh in this regard.”
He said they have even approached Minister of Urban Development (MoUD) Hardee Puri who assured them a better deal.

Coordinator of the forum, Madhu Nair, said, “The DMRC can extend Barapullah extension to MV3 which would give us better connectivity to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and south Delhi.
