Greater Noida: Not just bad roads, commuters have to grope in the dark while negotiating the curves of Greater Noida west roads at night as most of the main roads here are devoid of streetlights.
On Monday, a motorcyclist skidded on the structure of a drain hole on the service lane of Sector 1 in Greater Noida West. While the biker sustained no serious injury in the accident, he described the structure as dangerous and can lead to fatal accidents any time.
The structure stands almost on the unlit newly constructed service. During the night , it is pitch dark and hence the structure is not visible to the human eye.
As per the residents of the area, the wall of the drain hole was height raised recently when the road was being constructed.
A passerby told CitySpidey, "The entire stretch of this service lane has such drains which are either open or are badly shaped. This one has always been a menace for commuters. This is not the first time someone bumped into it".
The problem of the dark service lanes is common in the entire Greater Noida west. This could be the reason why most of the crimes take place on these secluded dark roads.
