Residents approach DC for CCTV cams, security at Jharsa Bundh

Gurugram: Residents of Sector 15 Part 1 have written to Deputy Commissioner (DC) conveying their concern over lack of security at Jharsa Bundh. With broken boundary wall and lack of CCTV cameras, morning and evening walkers here find themselves exposed to antisocial elements.

They demanded installation of CCTV cameras and repair of the broken boundary wall of the locality.

The letter drew the attention of the DC to the abysmal security at a place which has become the most sought after for joggers and health-conscious people alike. A large number of morning and evening walkers including women and children are regular at the bundh. BS Yadav, a resident of the area, has this to say: "Incidents of theft of lights and music system has been reported in the past. Women do not feel safe going for a walk here alone as anti-social elements are often spotted at the bundh.” 

He said after a repeated request to the concerned authority to fix the broken boundary wall but the problem still persisted.

The residents of Sector 15 part 1, Patel Nagar, Housing Board Colony, Kirti Nagar use this route for a shortcut to Rajiv Chowk. They said that the steps alongside Rajiv Chowk are uneven and several people fell down and injured themselves.

"We have urged the authority to install CCTV cameras and fix the broken boundary wall pending for more than two years. Many elderly walkers get injured. The concerned authorities should look into the matter and act promptly." said Ramesh Vashishta, a member of the district grievance committee.

Meanwhile, the office of deputy commissioner directed the GMDA officials to take appropriate action on the matter and submit a report accordingly.
