KKR break free from losing streak; register convincing win against PBKS

New Delhi: On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) finally ended their losing streak and won their second match of the IPL 2021. They defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. KKR captain Eoin Morgan got back to form with an unbeaten 47.

Morgan won the toss and decided to bowl first. KKR’s fielders and bowlers were almost on point and this brought the wickets of PBKS skipper KL Rahul in the sixth over and Chris Gayle in seventh over.

KL Rahul's poor form continued on this ground as he marched to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs off 20. Nicholas Pooran and Mayank Agarwal tried to build the partnership but the KKR spin bowlers did not allow them to do so.

Chris Jordan tried his best to take the Kings’ to the respectable total. Jordan made 18-ball 30 with the help of three maximums. However, the other batsmen did not help him much and Kings finished  with the target of 123 runs.

To Chase 124, Kolkata lost three wickets early. Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, and Shubman Gill marched back to the pavilion before the score touched 20. However, captain Morgan rescued his team and played a responsible knock of 47 runs.

Ravi Bishnoi took an unexpected catch and became the major talking point of the match. He was standing at deep fine-leg, covered close to 30 meters, and perfectly timed his dive to take a blinder of a catch. After this, a former cricketer shared a tweet, “The catch of EVERY IPL tournament. Wow wow wow - Bishnoi.”
