New Delhi: For the second day in a row, Delhi reported less than 2,000 coronavirus cases on Monday. Delhi reported 1,550 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 14,18,418.

Delhi reported 1,649 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, 2,260 on Saturday, 3,009 on Friday, 3,231 on Thursday, 3,846 on Wednesday and 4,482 on Tuesday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 61,506 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 44,342 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 17,164 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate slightly increased to 2.52 per cent from 2.42 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate was 7.55 per cent.

On the other hand, the city reported 207 deaths on Monday, taking the toll to 23,409. Delhi reported 189 deaths on Sunday, 182 on Saturday, 252 on Friday, 233 on Thursday, 235 on Wednesday and 265 on Tuesday.

The number of daily recoveries outnumbered the new cases by a significant margin again on Sunday. A total of 4,375 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 13,70,431 in the national capital. The recovery rate was above 96 per cent. The active cases declined to 24,578 from 27,610 on the previous day.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that the situation is now under control in the national capital and he is preparing for the third wave. He tweeted, “Grateful to HCL, Give India and Central govt (esp Indian embassy in Beijing) for helping us get these cylinders to Delhi.”
