The 49th Annual American Music Awards were held live on November 21, 2021, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The global event became an excellent night for BTS, a South Korean boy band who took three took home three awards: Best pop group (for the third time), Best pop song (Butter), and coveted Artist of the year (for the first time).
The AMAs were televised live from the Microsoft Theater on Monday morning and in the United States on Sunday night. BTS won three awards:
Making history worldwide, BTS took the stage to loud applause from their ARMYs (BTS Fandom), who lit up the room in Purple, the group's distinctive colour.
"Seven boys from Korea, united by love for music, met the love and support from all the armies all over the world," said BTS' RM after the group won Artist of the year for the first time. "This whole thing is a miracle. Seriously, we would never take this for granted."
With this achievement, BTS has turned into the first Asian band in history to win Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. This also marks BTS's third consecutive year winning Favorite Pop Duo or Group.

At the awards, BTS played out "My Universe" as a team with Coldplay as well as "Butter."
For the ARMY, 21st November 2021 would be a day of cheer as BTS brings home three significant successes at the American Music Awards. With their single hit Butter breaking records, BTS has become one of the most loved boy bands on the planet.
