Residents allege that after several requests over two years, the maintenance had agreed only to repair the road. They filled it with concrete, which resulted in more breaking of the road. As the approach failed, labour was brought to break the road with a hydraulic hammer. Now it has been filled with bitumen powder. As per residents, bitumen is lying on the road for the past 5-6 days. Every day, vehicles have to cross the bitumen and dust clouds enter the houses. One can not stand on the balcony and the house has to be mopped again and again.

Residents claim that for the past 2 years, they were forced to use potholed roads to drive their vehicles. After a long gap and much confusion, work of recarpeting the road is still going on at a very slow pace. They are now questioning, "Why have they spread construction debris all over the road when they are not repairing the road immediately?"

Arnimesh Kumar, President AOA, Aishwaryam says, “After putting a lot of pressure on the ministries, MLA, CM to repair the roads, finally when the work gets started, we wonder when will it get finished. After the digging work, they have construction debris on the road. I live on the 8th floor and my flat faces the road. My house is full of dust, and red sand can be seen anytime in my flat. In the morning when I go for a walk, my clothes turn red.”

He continues, “From 6.30 am to 7.30 am, the school buses run on this place due to which the entire area gets covered with a cloud of dust. This is not only risky for pregnant ladies or elderly but for everyone."

We have tried to reach out to the maintenance team and will update the story once we get their comments.
