Residents of Shree Radha Sky Garden organized a plantation drive on the theme of Green Noida on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Around 230 plants of various species were planted in the green areas of the society. Some of them were Ashok, Gulmohar, Amaltaas, Bel, Neem, and Bougainvillea. More than 70 residents including women and children participated.

Mukesh Jha, a resident of the society informs us they have collectively decided that every resident will plant five saplings each weekend and also look after them. Moreover, NEFOWA, (a resident forum) is organizing a grand plantation drive shortly where society residents have decided to participate.

“All the people cooperated and we bought various plants for the society. This is just the start. We will plant trees every weekend from now on in nearby areas of Greater Noida. Our society's maintenance team will help in looking after the plants." says Jha.

Residents stated that the reason behind this plantation drive is to cool our environment because the temperature is increasing. Moreover, trees would also help in mitigating the ill effects of pollution.

Prabhakar Mishra, a resident, says, “If you look at today's environment, it is full of vehicles and electronics. From villages, we have moved to high-rise buildings. It is time we come together to conserve our environment. That is why we have launched this plantation drive, and we will plant more trees in the Greater Noida West and Kisan Chowk."

PK Sinha, a resident, says, “There is a saying that planting a tree is equal to performing 108 hawans. We had very few trees in our surroundings, so we decided to make it greener."

Hemant, another resident says, “Usually on Sundays we sleep, but this weekend was awesome as we participated in something greater than ourselves. As humans, we take so much from nature. It's high time we come together and return the favour."
