Dwarka: Community participates in Single-Use Plastic Vikalp Mela

Dwarka community witnessed the alternatives of Single-use plastic(SUP) at ‘Single Use Plastic Vikalp Mela' organised by District Administration, Kapashera and National Urban Livelihoods Mission, South West Delhi at Vegas Mall, sector 14. The fair was organised in collaboration with the members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of South West District, Delhi.

In the two-day fair on July 13 and 14, 2022, the district administration made an effort to sensitise the community people about Single Use Plastic(SUP) alternatives in everyday life. For this, an exhibition was held where different self-help groups and artisans displayed handmade items as an alternative to SUP. Dwarkaites took an active interest in the fair and showed up in large numbers.

Naveen Kotiya, community organiser, National Urban Livelihoods Mission, said that the SHG members are being groomed to help spread awareness about the ill effects of SUP and sustainable alternatives. Mukul Manrai, SDM (Headquarters) was present on the occasion and appealed to the community people to discourage the use of SUP.
