Madame Tussauds, Noida, few hits and many misses

The recently opened Madame Tussauds museum at Dlf Mall of India, Noida, has got some hits but then it did miss a lot. The unique museum was first opened at Connaught Place and was closed during the pandemic. The renowned wax figures of Madame Tussauds have relocated to the DLF Mall in Noida.

The museum, one of the pandemic's victims opened on July 19, 2022, to long lines of people waiting to take pictures with their favourite celebrities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. You can also spot here your kid's favourite cartoon buddies Motu and Patlu and the famous boxer Mary Kom at the museum.

This time, the makers came up with a different idea at Noida. The entire museum is separated based on the genre, like cinema, history, music and sports.

Madame Tussauds, Noida saw a heavy media presence on its opening day. Visitors clicked selfies with Bollywood stars such as Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan. Old timers rushed to past Bollywood stars such as Madhubala, Asha Bhosle, and Madhuri Dixit to pose for photos. Statues of sports legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, and Virat Kohli drew a huge crowd of fans. Athlete Milkha Singh's wax figure was also unveiled at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Noida.

Besides celebrities and sports persons, icons like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, and Subhas Chanda Bose are also present at the museum.

Although Madame Tussauds Noida is indeed a new attraction in the town, still it lacks quality in some aspects. Madame Tussauds is known for its minor details, but here in Noida, it was easy to spot that a lot of little details went missing. Many of the statutes looked like cheap copies of celebrities. If you look at Katrina, the statue does not look like her at all, apart from her abs, her entire face seems distorted at Madame Tussauds, Noida.

Madhubala, the lady whose iconic smile blazed up many a silver screen looked totally off colour here. Her smile did not match her screen one and her face too looked far from the original.
Another star who got a poor deal is Salman Khan. He is seen seated on a rickshaw like a scene from his film. His wax statue was too fair and looked weird. One could only recognize him from his rickshaw.

Stars like Anil Kapoor, Ranbir and Shahrukh Khan wax figures were better than the rest. Their height, face, colour and other compositions were close enough. Kareena Kapoor too looked a bit off from her usual self.

Another sore point is the ticket price, which we thought was too high at rupees 900. The price for the ticket should not be anything above rupees 500, which will be pocket friendly for everyone.

Nevertheless, the sports section saved the day. From Kapil Dev to Milkha Singh, the figures looked realistic. They succeeded in giving us the feeling that we are standing with real personalities. From this particular section, Mary Kom's statue was among the most outstanding figure. Every detail on the face and body of the champion pugilist from Manipur looked real.

In the music section you could spot Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, Diljit Dosanjh and the international icon Lady Gaga.  Among all the music cons, the wax figure of Asha Bhosle was almost perfect, every tiny detail of the singer's face was done precisely.

Many Hollywood celebrities too had their representations at the museum, such as Kim Kardashian, Leonardo, Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackon, Scarlet and Anjelina Jolie. Will Smith, Leonardo and Anjelina's wax statutes were convincing, and every detail was nicely done.

Between scouting the place, we met a visitor who found this museum interesting. Abbass from Noida says, "I think opening a Madame Tussauds once again in India was a good decision, People would love to visit here with their friends and family. It's also a correct move to increase its customer base. The mall would attract many new visitors because of Madame Tussauds."

Overall, my experience at Madame Tussauds was fun and intriguing, although few of the statutes lack quality, the museum deserves a one-time visit. If you are looking for an outing other than a picnic or an amusement park, you can visit here for an interesting time. An hour-long visit to the museum would suffice. You can also buy Iifa miniature awards and similar filmy goodies from Madame Tussauds as a souvenir.
