According to the members of the SHD, it also provides emotional and social support to the seniors in Dwarka who are spending lives in isolation. A resident of Harsukh Apartments, Sector 7 and General Secretary of SHD, Ravi Jaitley says, “We are a group, who can arrange place for senior citizens for get-togethers. This is a concept to live with and live for them. SHD is formed where seniors can spend their leisure time in an AC hall with free tea and coffee any time during the events.”

According to members of the group, this is the first of its kind group in Dwarka where members, over a period of time, have formed small sub-groups according to their interests and preferences. President of SHD and a resident of Mass Apartments Sector 10, RK Jain says, “We give the Seniors a free space to spend their time and keep them engaged with several activities."

Apart from providing a safe and social space for the senior citizens, SHD also works for the welfare of them. They organise health talks, workshops and cultural programmes for community people. Ravi Jaitley says, “We organise health related events and also support those seniors who are living alone. Meeting those senior citizens and celebrating several occasions with them is something we do to make them feel warm and a part of the family.”
