Indoor cleaning still on for residents of ATS Village and Emerald Court

Noida- Rain helps combat dust pollution post-Twin Tower demolition

The Supertech Twin Towers in sector 93A are no more. Yet, residents of nearby ATS Village and Emerald Court feel their presence in the form of a mound of rubble on-site, the clouds of dust whose particles were suspended in the air, greenery covered in dust and their houses rendered dusty. While the latter is still a challenge, the outside air was purified, thanks to nature's intervention and the showers of August 29 and August 30, 2022.

Nearby residents who had to evacuate from their houses started returning on the evening of August 28, 2022. The smell of dust made them uncomfortable. As gathered, many residents were praying for rain because common areas and gardens were covered in dust. A layer of dust had accumulated from the roads too. People were having trouble breathing because of this.

The rains of August 29, 2022, controlled the dust in the air, bringing a smile to the resident's faces. The weather changed.  Before the rains, officials from Noida authority and UP Fire police were sprinkling water on the trees, buildings etc to remove the dust.

Shivani Chouhan, a resident of ATS Village says, “This rain has brought a sigh of relief. The air quality is much better now. But still, we cannot open doors and windows because of the ongoing civil work.”

Iti, a resident of ATS Village shares, “I thank God for the rains. All dust was settled. We were not sure what will happen next, but yes, the view is clear and beautiful."

However, indoor cleaning of houses is still on by residents. The nearby towers are still covered with geotextile cloth. Residents of ATS Village and Supertech Emerald Court have not removed the tapes yet.

Mousami, a resident of ATS Village says, “I am happy as my house was not damaged but yes, the balcony was covered in dust. Moreover, dust could be felt in the air. The AQI was close to 500. Three purifiers were running nonstop. We gave all clothes for dry cleaning as hanging them out would defeat the purpose. However, the rain has made it better."
