The Swachh Map app, launched on October 2 by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, is going a long way in keeping the city clean. Residents said that launching the app was an innovative step towards sanitation.

The app allows users to send photos of dirty areas to the corporation, following which the issue is addressed in 24 hours.

Prem Chaudhary, a resident of Sector 46, said, “This is an innovative step towards keeping the city clean. I have been using the app since Day 1. Whenever I find a dirty spot, I submit my complaint through this app.”

“I can’t comment about the cleanliness of the entire city, but the sanitation of my area has definitely seen an improvement,” said Anurag Gupta, a resident of Sector 52.

Lokesh Aggarwal, a resident of Model Town in Sector 11, said that residents should support the government in keeping the city clean and that the app was of great help.

When City Spidey spoke to Dr Vijay Pal, executive officer of the corporation and nodal officer of Swachh Bharat Mission, he said, “People have really taken to the app. The Ministry of Urban Development will survey the city in January. Our aim is to make the city one of the ten cleanest cities in the country. This cannot be achieved without the support of the citizens.”
