Noida: Bengali community of Jalvayu Vihar bid adieu to Goddess Durga

Noida: On October 5, 2022, the residents of Jalvayu Vihar, Sector 25, Noida, bid adieu to Goddess Durga. The celebration of Vijay Dashmi began with Sindoor Khela by the women of the society, followed by the idol immersion of Godess Durga. The idol was immersed at a pit dug near the Modi mall by the Noida Authority.

Jaya Dey, a resident of Jalvayu Vihar and an active member of the Durga Pooja Committee, says, "Durga Puja is our favourite and most important holiday, for which we wait throughout the year. This festival commemorates the triumph of the goddess Durga over demon Mahishasura. This year, the celebration was grand as everyone was ready to participate enthusiastically."

Bishaka Sen, another resident of Jalvayu vihar says, "After two very challenging and difficult years, this year's Pujo was exciting as we welcomed Maa Durga. We hope the celebrations next year are even more grand."

Further, Bishaka says, "Getting dressed in the morning, arriving on time for the puja, enjoying all the cultural activities, serving bhog, dhunuchi dacne, and concluding the festivities with Sindoor Khela, it was our goal to ensure that not only the committee members enjoy Durga Puja to the fullest, but that anyone who attends also enjoys it. It was a great experience this year."

Snehanki Bhadra, another resident of Jalvayu Vihar says, "After years of Covid, we celebrated our first Durga pujo with tremendous fervour. The best aspect of the puja is the sense of togetherness. As Maa Durga returns now to visit us next year, there's devotion in the air. We bid her adieu with with the same zeal as when we welcomed her."
