New Delhi: Broken swings, benches, rough and damaged surface of walking track, overgrown grass and many more such things can be seen while entering the Sector 5 Park adjacent to Jawahar Apartments. The condition of the park is telling the story of the concerned civic body’s apathy.

People of the area say that due to “uncongenial condition” of the park, they avoid to go there. RK Singh, a resident of the area, says, “This situation is prevalent for a long time. It’s been more than two years and nothing has changed. For the last one year, the condition has become worse. MCD has the sole responsibility to keep it maintained.”

“When you enter in the park, you would see many equipments for children lying there in bad condition. If children would try to use them, they might get hurt. Concrete benches are also in dilapilated condition. Hooligans might have ransacked them to steal the iron,” said another resident.

“The benches can be seen crushed and the irons are missing from inside. Such things are done by drug addicts and this is happening only because people avoid to use this park due to its pathetic condition,” says Mahesh Gupta, a resident of Sector 5.

When asked about the subject, MCD officials said that they would look into it and do the needful.
