Its Raahgiri time by NDMC in CP on Sunday

New Delhi Municipal Council ( NDMC ) has announced Raahgiri Day relaunching in Connaught Place, New Delhi from February 19, 2023, after the post-pandemic period of Covid19.

The Raahgiri is being re-launched under the theme of G-20 for creating sustainable and liveable cities, with a focus on sustainable mobility. The G-20 theme is a call for action, to create sustainable and safer cities, and Raahgiri Day aligns perfectly with this goal.

This will be the first of a series of Raahgiri Days being hosted at Connaught Place and will be one of the events as part of "Delhi Police Week" taking place from 16th to 22nd February, with the themes of the event being road safety (with a focus on walkability of cities) and women safety.

During the event, the streets of Connaught Place will be transformed into a car-free zone, allowing residents to participate in a range of activities, including yoga classes, Zumba, sports zones, games, music, dance, and even educational programs on different issues including road safety, walkability, and women safety.

NDMC is organising the event of Raahgiri in partnership with Delhi Police, supported by the Raahgiri Foundation and Sustainable Mobility Network as the Knowledge Partners. Nagarro will be the CSR partner for the event.

The Raahgiri Day is a concept that began in 2013 and is a car-free citizen initiative that advocates for safe, accessible, and inclusive public streets wherein people can walk to nearby markets and children can walk to nearby schools, safely. It is a rare sight to be able to see children playing on the street nowadays, owing to our streets not being children, or even people friendly.
