The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) is taking the garbage collection to next level by introducing advanced auto-tippers which have many new features. Around 230 new auto-tippers will soon start ferrying in East Delhi.

These new auto-tippers are having two dumping areas for putting dry and wet wastes separately. People will not be forced to dump the dry and wet wastes together. The trolley has been divided into two parts for this purpose.

Apart from this, the advanced auto-tippers will have the facility to drop the small trolley to the comfortable level of people so that people can easily dump their garbage. With the previous auto-tippers, people had to struggle in dumping garbages because of the height of the trolley.

As and when people will be through the process of dumping garbage, the small trolley will automatically transfer the garbage to the main trolley.

In addition to this, the separate parts of the trolley will have clearly written instructions about where to put dry and wet wastes.

“Replacing old auto-tippers with the new model is an idea to collect maximum waste segregated from its sources. Residents at least can handover dry and wet waste in separate bins. If we receive wet and dry waste segregated, it would help the corporation to segregate it further,” said Gaurav Kumar, an official with the general wing in EDMC.

Neema Bhagat, Mayor (EDMC) was of the view that, “Managing waste has become one of the bigger challenges before the municipal agencies in the city. New auto-tippers will add to the strength in meeting the objectives to collect maximum waste segregated from its resources.”

Bhagat also informed that EDMC would soon procure nearly 200 more auto-tippers.

However, it is not the first time that these kinds of advanced auto-tippers will be ferrying in the national capital. It has been in operation in many posh areas of the national capital.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) which is responsible for services in posh areas including the Lutyen zones had introduced such kind of auto-tippers couple of years back.

Two months earlier, Ranbir Singh, Commissioner (EDMC), had exclusively told City Spidey that the east corporation has initiated several plans to encourage the citizen to segregate the waste before handing over to the corporation.

Singh had also said that the plan of waste management or the waste segregation can be achieved with the joint support of the citizens of the city.

In fact, one such plan was introduced last year in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 (Pocket 1) with the involvement of Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and the programme was called ‘Compost Banao, Compost Apnao.’ It was launched by EDMC.
