The Noida police on Monday busted five members of a gang of mobile phone thieves who used to sell the stolen items on OLX after furnishing fake bills.

According to police, the accused have been identified as, Mohit, Bablu, Ashish, Aslam and Tarique. They all reside in Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad.

Aslam owns a cyber cafe and he used to make fake bills of the stolen mobile phones. Others used to click the photo of the mobile and post it on OLX.

Rajiv Kumar Singh, circle officer 3 of Noida told City Spidey that during interrogation, Mohit accepted that he along with Bablu, Tarique and Ashish used to snatch mobile phones from persons walking on the roads alone.

“After that, we used to go to Aslam’s cyber cafe to make the fake bills of the mobile phones and then post it on OLX,” Mohit said.

Singh further said that they have stolen more than 25 mobile phones and sold it on OLX till date.

“Police recovered 11 mobile phones with fake bills. Police also recovered a fake bill book, two scooters, two printers and two laptops,” Singh said.

"Further investigations are presently on and police will speak more about this gang once it gets complete,” Singh said.
