RESIDENT SPEAK: People in Meghdootam park not safe due to nearby construction

It is a big question in Delhi-NCR and metropolitan cities that how safe you and your near and dear ones are when construction work is being carried out by big builders near your home or public places like park, road etc. It is also a thing to wonder that how much safety and NGT norms are being followed by builders.

Ambience Tiverton is carrying out construction works at a plot F-33 in Sector-50 of Noida.  Its rear boundary wall is adjacent to Meghdootam Park. Every day, around more than 500 people (ladies, gents, children and senior citizens) use this park for morning and evening walk. The running track is very near to boundary wall which divides the park and builders plot.

On Saturday evening, the shuttering having more than 1,000 iron pipes fell inside Meghdootam Park and damaged the running track, 4-5 trees and pathway lights. By the grace of God, no human casualty happened as there was no one moving in the park at that time.

The damages happened in the park due to builder’s negligence. The ongoing construction is a major hazard to public life as the builder has still not taken any precaution to safeguard people even after such an incident.

Even after three days, the builder has not taken or shown any interest to repair the track and clean the area of the park.

I humbly request senior officers of Noida authority, director of the horticulture department and other relevant offices of NGT to please take strict action against the builder for the damage of public properties and not following the safety norms and NGT norms. An FIR should be registered for negligence towards public life, damage to public property and damage to trees.
