The district town planning (DTP) department’s enforcement wing has issued a warning to the owners of dhabas and hotels located in green belts to deconstruct their structures or else face demolition on June 1.

The enforcement wing has demanded ample amount of police cover and support from the magistrate when the demolition drive will be conducted. They are targeting 40 of the unauthorised structures for demolition.
The enforcement wing will target the structures which have not followed the TCP rules properly. They have already identified the dhabas and hotels in a survey conducted three months ago.
The eviction notices have already been sent to the owners of these structures. Few owners of these structures have moved to civil court in Gurugram.
Rajender T Sharma, district town planner (DTP), enforcement, Gurugram, said, “We presented our case in the civil court on Tuesday and the case was disposed of. Now, they (the owners) have to vacate the green belt by dismantling their unauthorised structures.
“If they remove structures on their own, there will be a minimum loss of property. Otherwise, the enforcement team and police will have to demolish these structures and it will lead to significant loss of assets. We have given them seven days’ time, till May 30,” said Sharma.
“After demolition, the owners will have to apply for the change of land use (CLU) and construction of commercial properties,” Sharma said.
Spaces of 60 metres were left on either side of the 150 meters wide National Highway for the development of green belts. A senior enforcement official said that it is illegal to build structures on green belts.
“No permission would be granted for the construction of commercial properties in the green belts on the National Highway. The owners have been given an opportunity to abide by the order issued by the enforcement wing and run their businesses legally. A clear directive has been issued from the office of the director general, TCP, in this regard,” Narender Kumar, assistant town planner (ATP), enforcement, said.
