Euphoric Gurgaon residents cheer Magenta line as travel time cuts significantly

The residents of Gurgaon were ecstatic on Wednesday after the opening of Delhi Metro’s Magenta line which has significantly reduced the travel time to Noida, west Delhi and south-east Delhi.

Now, the commuters can travel from Gurgaon to Noida in just 50 minutes.

The Gurgaon residents used to travel to Rajiv Chowk or Central Secretariat to change trains. Now, they only need to go to Hauz Khas Metro station in order to travel towards Noida, west Delhi and south-east Delhi.

“My office is in Kalkaji and I had to travel all the way till the Central Secretariat and subsequently, switch to the Violet line. Today (Tuesday), I switched at Hauz Khas and directly headed to Kalkaji, which saved me nearly 35 minutes on the one-way commute,” Kanika Singh, a resident of DLF Phase-1, said.

“My relatives live in Gurugram and I visit them every other week. Until now, I took the Violet line and changed at the Central Secretariat station for the Yellow line. The new extension will make the commute to Gurugram easier,” Rahul Kumar, a 21-year-old resident of Greater Kailash, said.

“The new Metro line is a blessing for me. It has reduced my travelling time by at least 35-40 minutes. Earlier, I used to change the Metro two times — from Magenta line to Violet to Yellow. Apart from adding to the travel time, switching multiple times used to tire me. Now, I can simply change the Metro at Hauz Khas and reach Gurugram in 45-50 minutes,” Shweta Kishore, a 24-year-old employee of a firm near IFFCO Tower, said.
