Gurugram police beefs up security at 'Mall Mile' to check rising crime cases

To check the rising crime cases, the Gurugram police on Wednesday deployed 400 personnel at the two and a half kilometres stretch of MG Road which is also known as Mall Mile, Golf Course Road and Sohna Road. Around 100 police pickets will also be made in the same area.

The area sees a great number of visitors every day as many prominent malls fall there. As per the police, they are committed to covering the majority of the city’s watering holes.

The same is part of a security trial run, city police commissioner KK Rao said.

At all these stretches, twenty women personnel have also been deployed to check the crime.

Most of the police personnel are stationed at MG Road as the area is most vulnerable to the crime against women. Such kinds of cases frequently crop up from the Sector-29 area.

“The police personnel will be deployed between 4 pm and 4 am and each women police personnel will be deployed for a four-hour shift,” police said.

KK Rao, the commissioner of police, also informed that they are also thinking about restricting entry of autorickshaws on MG Road during the same period.
