The bike-borne assailant struck the victim, Rekha Devi, when she was standing with her daughter at 6 pm in the evening.
An unidentified man on Thursday snatched a gold chain from a 50-year-old woman near the front gate of Charms Castle at Rajnagar Extension in Ghaziabad.

Police informed that the man approached the victim from behind. “The biker was already present at the roadside. He started coming closer after spotting me,” the victim said.
“The biker came from behind of the victim and grabbed the chain with full force. He rushed away in hurry after getting hold of the gold chain,” said police
Ravi Manishi, her son-in-law and resident of Charms Castle called the police to the scene. “I was at home when my wife called and told me about the incident,” he said.
Manishi told that the CCTV footage showed the model of the bike but no further details were traced. “It (footage) showed that the assailant came on a black Pulsar but the important information like registration number of the bike was not traced,” he said.
Bhuri Singh, a resident of the same society worriedly said that such incidents are on the rise and police should start patrolling the area more often.
Vikas Sharma, Morta Chowki Incharge opined that the rate of such incidents is on the decline. “But we will be more careful,” he added.
Police are examining the CCTV footage. Sharma also said that the police also need residents’ support to check such incidents.
“I have requested each AOA to install HD cameras at their society gates. It will not just make them safe but will also help us to get hold of the miscreants,” he said.
The victim belongs to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and was on a visit to her daughter’s house.
