Police say the girls were trapped for many weeks and were brought to this place with false job promises. A case under section 354 of IPC, illegal confinement will be registered.

Cops rescue 28 Nepali girls from Indirapuram’s Srijan Vihar society; 5 arrested

As many as 28 girls of Nepali origin were rescued from Srijan Vihar society in Abhay Khand, Indirapuram in a joint operation, led by Ghaziabad and Delhi police on Monday evening. The police have also arrested five men in this connection.

According to the police, the girls were trapped for many weeks and were brought here with false job promises.

SSP Ghaziabad, Vaibhav Krishna said that prima facie, the case appears to be of human trafficking and illegal confinement.

Shlok Kumar, SP city said the tip-off regarding these girls was provided to Delhi police by a girl who escaped from the society few days ago.

"The escaped girl then contacted one of her friends who worked as a maid in a family in Delhi. The maid then told the situation to her employer who then informed the police about the situation," Kumar further said.

Delhi police then contacted Ghaziabad police and a joint raid was carried out in the evening.

During interrogation, one of the accused admitted that he worked as caretaker. He also said the women age ranged between 21 and 45 years.

Officials of Delhi Police, SSP Vaibhav Krishna and SHO Indirapuram Nazeer Ali Khan are interrogating the rescued girls and all the men arrested. SSP further said that no sexual assault has been reported in primary investigation.

The police will register a case under section 354 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), illegal confinement.
