Noida’s first waste remediation plant becomes operational

The Chief Executive Officer of Noida Authority on Sunday inaugurated city’s first waste remediation plant at Sector 54. The plant is now operational and on a trial run.

The plant is being operated by Tamil Nadu-based Zigma Global Environ Solutions.

Under the waste remediation process, the contaminants, which are harmful to people and the environment, are neutralized.

“The plant will stabilise and convert the waste into windrows (triangular-shaped heaps). These will be fed into the plant to be separated into soil, stone, brick, and produce refuse-derived fuel (RDF).”

Earlier in July 2018, the Noida Authority had signed a MoU for segregation, treatment and recycling of waste through remediation plants.

The process of remediation is completed in many stages. In the beginning, the bio-culture is applied to the waste to stabilize it. It is then converted into windrows. This process makes sure that there is no smell and flies on it.

Moistures and pathogens are also eliminated after this process. The Authority will now remediate thousands of tons of waste at this new plant.
