Residents of Kendriya Vihar-II, Sector 82, Noida, are ready to go ahead with rainwater harvesting this monsoon and hope to recharge the water table.
Dr GL Jambhulkar, secretary of KV-II Apartment Owners’ Association, said, “Altogether 10 pits were made for water harvesting in the apartment when the society was being built in 2002. But over the years, the pits became clogged as the elected resident bodies of the society did not pay attention to rainwater harvesting. This also resulted in waterlogging in the society during monsoons every year.”
All members of the resident body, including the president KM Rai, the vice-president Manju Singh and the treasurer VS Chauhan, held a meeting and decided to spend a sum of Rs 50,000 for cleaning the pits.
KM Rai told City Spidey, “The pits have been cleaned and now rainwater will collect in these pits. Besides this, the problem of waterlogging within the campus is expected to be solved.”
