In an anti-encroachment drive carried out by the Ghaziabad Development Authority, six shops running at Panchsheel Square, a market complex in Crossings Republik, were sealed on Tuesday.
GDA official said that the shops did not have a licence and were illegally constructed in the common area of the complex. “All these were kiosk shops and most of them were small eatery joints,” said Lokesh Kumar, enforcement official of Zone 5, GDA.
Kumar also added that the authority had taken the action after receiving several complaints from the residents.
While speaking to City Spidey, many residents said that they were facing nuisance because of the shops while visiting the complex. “People coming to these shops park haphazardly around the complex, which leads to traffic jams as the complex is located right next to the roundabout of Crossings Republik," said Sanjay Jha, a resident of Gaur Global Village, a residential condominium situated near the roundabout.
Also, commercial activity in the common area is not allowed and is illegal, said Kumar. He further added that the authority will soon demolish the sealed shops. “We will also take action against the builder for allowing illegal commercial activity on the common area of the complex,” Kumar added.TAGS: anti-encroachment drive / Ghaziabad Development Authority / Panchsheel Square / Crossings Republik / sealed
