To sensitize the residents towards importance of voting in upcoming general elections, officials of district administration along with AOAs organised a voter awareness program at the office of FedAOA in Indirapuram on Saturday.
The officials urged the residents to turn out in huge number to make this festival of democracy a success.
Alok Kumar, president of FedAOA said that the officials asked the prospective voters to also contribute in sensitizing others towards the importance of voting in the election.
“The officials proposed AOA office bearers to spread awareness about voting in their societies through meetings with the residents. Also, they (officials) called for a Ghanti Bajao Campaign where on the day of voting, the residents would call the doorbell of their neighbours and would encourage them to vote,” Kumar told City Spidey.
Besides, the officials of district administration educated the residents about use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) with Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) which will be used in Lok Sabha elections of 2019.
Meanwhile, ASP Aparna Gautam, Circle Officer of Indirapuram, informed the attendees about law and order to take care during the election period.
“She gave details about rules and regulations to be followed during the period of model code of conduct being imposed,” told Kumar.
“She also encouraged the ladies to come out and exercise their constitutional right without any apprehension of law and order situation,” Kumar added.
Ghaziabad is set to go on polls on April 11.
