Gurugram police educates motorists on new rules; distributes flowers

With an aim to educate the masses about the new traffic rules, the Gurugram Police along with the residents on Sunday launched a traffic awareness drive. They also distributed flowers to motorists as a good gesture.

Such drives were conducted in sectors 3, 5 and 6. The drive, carried out by the SHO Rajender Kumar of sector 5 police station and his team along with the representatives of RWA, was aimed to create awareness among the people. They also urged them to follow traffic rules.

During the drive, police and RWA members urged the two-wheeler and car drivers to wear helmets and seat belts respectively. The police asked the drivers to have proper documents of the vehicle with themselves. People, who were following the rules, were lauded for their promptness.

On the occasion, SHO Rajender Kumar took the initiative to educate the people about the amended Motor Vehicle Act. He informed the residents about how the new rules will help in reducing traffic congestions, road accidents and others.

Dinesh Vashish, RWA President of one of the participating society said, “It was shocking to see that even after implementation of new Motor Vehicle Act with heavy penalty, people are still not following the rules strictly. They neither have respect for the traffic rules nor they are afraid of the heavy penalties.”
