The Dwarka police on Wednesday prosecuted 52 persons for public drinking during park patrolling drive and roadside checks. ACP Dwarka informed that the drive would continue to check public nuisance. He said it would make the parks and other public places free from the irritants.
The police has recently started the specific patrolling and sudden raids at parks. Resident welfare associations (RWAs), social organisations and general public have welcomed the initiatives of the police, especially the lightening raids and interaction with the people. They are pleading it to carry the good work forward.
General secretary of the RWA of Studio Apartments Sector 16B, Ramesh Mumukshu, said, “Such prosecutions would help in strengthening faith in the police and making the area free from chaos created by the open drinking.”
President of Ganpati Apartments KS Bhati said, “Open drinking in public places will hopefully come under some check as it is becoming a menace. Inebriated people cause nuisance, breaking empty bottles on road, breaking windowpanes of parked cars etc. I am happy and thankful to the police for carrying out this drive.”
