Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Wednesday came down heavy on two violators of the ban on construction activity in DLF Phase-2 and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000 on them.
According to the civic authority, the construction work was being carried out in Plot No-M 15/13 and J-4/9 of the DLF Phase-2 area in violation of the ban imposed on construction activity to contain the increasing air pollution.
After receiving a complaint, a junior engineer of the MCG, Harikishan, inspected the site and found the violation on plot number M15/13 and J4 / 9. Consequently, fines of Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 were levied from the owners of the plots respectively.
Earlier this month, in view of the steep increase in the level of pollution posing health risk to the citizens in the entire Delhi-NCR, the Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority (EPCA) had banned all kinds of construction activities in the city in compliance with a Supreme Court's order.

MCG Commissioner Amit Khatri said that a MCG team is monitoring the situation 24X7 to ensure compliance of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). So far, it has collected fines worth Rs. 42,000 from 10 violators.
