Noida: In continuation to its drive for enforcement of rules, the Noida Authority on Sunday conducted surprise inspection of hotels and restaurants in different sectors to punish defaulters. 

During the inspection, it was found that several hoteliers and restaurant owners were flouting the rules at their business outlets. It imposed a fine of Rs 1.04 lakh, which is a cumulative figure, on the defaulters caught red-handed.

According to officials, the surprise inspection was conducted by a team of officials headed by Avinash Tripathy, officer on special duty with Noida Authority. 

While the inspection was in progress, several hotels and restaurants were fined for using banned plastic carry bags, and bowls and plates made of thermocol at their respective business outlets.

These defaulters included Gopal Restaurants, Gondagol Kiosk, Moti Mahal Par, and Office Cafe Restaurant. They were fined for violation of the rules. 

The officer said that similar drive would be conducted in future too to ensure that each of them follow the rules. In case, they are found flouting the rules in future, they would be levied more fine.
