'Sakhi' center opens at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital

New Delhi: A branch of Sakhi, the one-stop center for women's help, has been established at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in Shastri Park, East Delhi. Services of the center are available on the first floor of the hospital. 

On November 27, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inaugurated the helpline center for women  at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences ( IHBAS). 

Speaking on the occassion, East West SDM said, “Many crimes against women occur in the country. We have set up a center as per the law. Women in distress can get any help they want under one shelter. Sakhi will provide all medical, legal and psychological assistance without hazel.”

"I filed a case against my in-laws for torturing me as we didn't give enough dowry as per their demand. I am staying at my mother's home since the last three years. Hope one stop center will ease my problem," said 37-year-old Simran.

Dr. Adarsh kumar, medical superintendent of hospital said, “Centre will work for 24 hours. Victims of domestic violence, harassment of dowry and molestation will get assured help from the centre.”

"Most of the time we are afraid to call police for assistance. One stop center will be much friendly for us. We can easily asl for help now," said 42-year-old Niti Shukla.

The one-stop center is part of an initiative taken by the Delhi Government in 2015 after brutal rape and murder of a girl popularly known as Nirbhaya.
